Pale turquoise glazing and decorated with rings. In very good condition; has a small edge chip-see photo. Measures 11″ wide x 5 1/4″ tall. Comes from the late Bill Stern who collected antique/vintage California pottery from a variety of makers. Stern founded the Museum of California Design in Los Angeles. This is a vintage Gerz German Stoneware castle-&-grapevine-patterned 9-piece Punchbowl/Tureen set, with a lid and 7 matching cups, and was made in West Germany in the 1950′s by Simon Peter Gerz (Gerzit) pottery. Its function has been purely decorative, so it has never actually been used. Design: The bowl features relief images of famous German castles, including Burg Sonneck, Ruine Maus, and Burg Katz, and is decorated with grapes and vines. Typical use: It can be used for serving mulled wine, soup, or punch. Punch Bowl is 12″ tall (14″ with lid) & 12 wide, with a 4 liter volume. This is so charming and what a statement piece only one of the cups has a chip on it. I’ve taken a couple of pictures to show you the chip, and the very bottom of the base of the bowl has a slight chip in it. I’ve taken pictures of that otherwise the stuff is in fantastic shape and so very charming.

Unique set of Louisville Pottery Stoneware. Based on a little research John B Taylor was at Louisville Pottery. Some of the Louisville Pottery seems to resemble M A Hadley because she was at Louisville also until she started her own business. The bowl is marked on the bottom – but unfortunately the mark is not complete. I have attached a clear and complete makers mark of John B Taylor that is labeled sample. The likeness can be seen from the example to what is on the bottom of the bowl. Please review pictures for size and condition. Unfortunately one of the mug handles has repair and there is a fracture on the side of the bowl. The fracture does not seem to affect the integrity of the bowl. Thank You for the interest!
