Some discoloration/staining under lid and interior (as shown). Some nicks around interior lip of bowl. Light wear to base. ½ glaze scrape on side of exterior footed base. One side appears to have a slight raised seam line from the making which extends down to the footed base. At bottom of footed base, a very slight separation in the glaze (as shown). Please notice lid was decorated more in in an all-over purple color where rim is blue. We strongly believe this is the way it was crafted. Please be sure this is suitable for your taste. Likely English or French mocha ware in the’Aptware’ tradition. Lidded mochaware lidded bowl from the likely from the Provence region of France. Marbled earthenware in swirls in various shades of brown and beige. Lidded top with a central knop. Often called “aptware” after the region of France where it became popular in the 18th century. Some scattered glaze flakes, and one curious section where a raised daub of clay appears to have been applied around the time of manufacture (all visible in the images). Here is a Jeffords Yellow Ware Antique Bowl. Circa: 1800′s This bowl measures 8″ wide on top of bowl and 4.25″ Tall. This is a Molded Embossed Design with a Beaded Band below the rim. There is a little bit of pitting inside the bottom of the bowl and some on the bottom of the bowl. There are also a couple of tiny nicks on the rim and on the bottom of the bowl.
