Vintage Pottery Bowls

This listing is for an extremely rare and unique vintage Ed Langbein Original ceramic rooster tureen and/or lidded serving bowl. It is created and signed by famous Mid Century ceramicist Ed Langbein. Langbein’s work is highly sought after, is represented by Sotheby’s, and some pieces can be found on MOMA’s permanent collection. This piece of art has a whimsical flair from the elongated neck to the upright feathers on the tail, and I especially enjoy the feet. Condition is absolutely marvelous, despite the very tiny flea bite on the bottom rim (see photo). There is crazing on some areas, most are in the interior and is consistent with age but no other chips, cracks, or nicks. As shown in the photos there are dark marks on the bottom rim, these are left from some round green felt protectors that were brittle so I removed them. I’m not sure that this is a soup tureen or serving bowl, I personally think this is a wonderful piece of his artwork and should be put on display for everyone to enjoy and discuss. Measures 12 1/4″ tall (includes lid and base), 9″ long, and 6 wide. Fantastic piece to add to anyones mid-century modern collection.
