This is a genuine vintage Bitossi “Vetrata” decorative bowl designed by the legendary Italian ceramic artist. Made in Italy during the height of the Mid-Century Modern era – circa 1950s-1960s. The “Vetrata” series, whose name means. In Italian, is one of the most sought-after Bitossi collections among MCM collectors, and it’s easy to see why. The interior is covered in a breathtaking mosaic of geometric triangles in rich aqua, teal, and cobalt blue, separated by dark lines that evoke the look of leaded stained glass windows. In direct sunlight, the glaze comes alive with luminous, jewel-like depth and color variation that photographs simply cannot fully capture. 10.25″ diameter, approximately 2 5/8″ in height. Weighs 2.14 lbs. Handmade glazed ceramic – authentic Italian studio pottery. Signed on base with style number 943 and artist signature. “Made in Italy” blue label on base. Vibrant teal exterior glaze with natural age-appropriate surface character. Stunning Vetrata interior – stained-glass geometric triangle pattern in teal, aqua, and cobalt blue. Decorative use only recommended; not intended for food use. ? Thank you so much for visiting acquiredbyangie! This is a wonderful mid century modern pottery bowl is hand inscribed C. 104/26 Italy on the bottom. Made by Bitossi in the Vetrata design, which translates to stained glass window. Vetrata was designed by Aldo Londi and produced during the mid 1960s. The bowl is footed with a multicoloured gloss glaze in the middle that is meant to replicate a stained glass window. The rim is finished in matte brown and the underside is finished in a wonderful gloss purple glaze.. The piece measures 9 square and 3 in height. I havent seen other examples of Vetrata that are exactly like this bowl, so a wonderful addition to a collection or just a great display piece for a modern decor!
