This rare China vintage Jizhou Kiln Porcelain “Tortoiseshell” glaze bowl is a stunning piece of Asian antique art. The interior and exterior are covered with a lusterous black-brown tenmoku glaze, dramatically splashed in translucent amber and honey tones of classic Song period Jizhou “tortoiseshell” effects. Surface has attractive fine crackle and good depth.
First of all, this stunning bowl is canary ware not yellow ware. Canary ware is pottery with a rich yellow glaze applied over white clay, whereas the color in yellow ware comes from the clay not the glaze. This rare bowl is decorated with attractive black transfer scenes on both sides of the bowl of a couple enjoying tea outdoors with a servant and dog watching them. The detail in the transfer patterns is very crisp and is even more stunning in person than as shown in the photos. Measuring 6 ½ in diameter the bowl is in original mint condition with no damage or repairs. The inside of the foot rim has a void in the clay from molding and doesn’t detract when upright. The bowl rings like a bell when you tap the rim.
This is an attractive, thin wall, molded bowl with a fluted pattern around the side. The bowl is further decorated with 2 raised brown glaze bands. Measuring 8″ in diameter by 3 ¾” in height, the bowl is in near mint condition with only a flat chip on the edge of the rim that doesn’t detract.

Here we have an attractive antique American bowl in a unique pattern. This is an Ohio Valley piece of yellow ware dating to the 1870s. During this period there were hundreds of potters along the Ohio River, each trying to survive and create a market for their wares, hence the unique band pattern in this set. This bowl is decorated with three raised bands, two wide white and one mocha. The bowl has a pronounced rounded rim and foot. The rounded rim was a feature added to bowls to make it easier to pick them up without the bowl slipping out of your hands. These bowls made in graduated sizes, this bowl measures 12″ in diameter by 5 ½” high. This attractive bowl is free of damage and survives in its original condition after 150 years of use.
This is a vintage Gerz German Stoneware castle-&-grapevine-patterned 9-piece Punchbowl/Tureen set, with a lid and 7 matching cups, and was made in West Germany in the 1950′s by Simon Peter Gerz (Gerzit) pottery. This vintage and rare Catalina Pottery Fruit Bowl features a unique turquoise interior and Franciscan exterior color, making it a standout piece for all occasions. Handmade in the USA in the 1920s to 1940s using art pottery techniques, this round wavy edge bowl boasts a glossy finish and measures 7.5 in diameter. The bowl design resembles a large flower. The impressed backstamp is hard to read, but it can be seen. It is original and a collectible piece, perfect for adult use and boasting a depth of 3 to 4 inches. Produced on Santa Catalina Island, California, from the 1920s to the 1930s. Initially using the island’s red clay for tiles and bricks, and later for artware and dinnerware. The factory was a division of William Wrigley Jr. In 1937 due to rising production costs. Glatting McBean continued to produce pottery under the Catalina name until it was phased out in 1941.
