Being offered is an old, vintage, Acoma Indian made art pottery bowl. The bowl has the classic early bird, either parrots or macaws, along with alternating geometric form designs. The bowl is signed with a first name which is difficult to read but the last name is Concho. The Concho family are noted Acoma potters. Many are contemporary potters and this bowl is old in its history and design. I believe this was made by Lolita Concho and the first name has become smeared over time. This is based on the bowls design and style. The bowl does show typical age related wearing. There is wearing to the polychrome slip colors in places. The bowl is intact with no chips, cracks, or hairlines. The bowl is approx. 8″ wide at its widest portion and 5 3/8″ tall. She was an outstanding potter and one of the few who could make large jars. She was born to Antonio and Teofila Torivio of Acoma Pueblo in 1914. She was also one of the driving forces behind the 1970s revival of traditional pottery making at Acoma Pueblo. Lolita preferred to make traditional Acoma shapes: jars, bowls, vases and canteens. In addition, I sell items for Native Americans and from personal collections. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about my items. Please let me know ahead of time. I will try my best to get the item out sooner. Thanks for your business.
