The largest is 4.25″ in height with diameter of 8.25″. It has “England” embossed on the underside of the base. There are no chips or cracks or signs of repair. It does appear as if there is a linear scrape on the bottom but nothing that goes through the bowl. A few various stains on the interior which coincide with age and use. The second and smaller of the two bowls is rare and believed to be from the early 1800′s. 3″ in height with diameter 5.75″. It has some stains on its interior and has the addition of black thin stripes encircling it with a blue band. Again, no chips, or signs of repair. I can not determine any makers mark but appears to be of the same period as the larger one. Fine examples of bowls! GDA Charles Field Haviland Limoges 8 Coupe Soup Bowls Pink Roses Green Shamrocks. DESCRIPTION: This beautiful set of 8 coupe soup bowls has the embossed swirls that add to its uniqueness. The delicate pattern consists of pink roses & green shamrock leaves. There are grey ghost flowers and leaves to add to its allure. CONDITION: While this set is classified as used, the condition is superb. The only issue is a that one bowl has a small flake on the backside of the rim. All of the photos are taken of this bowl to show that it is still beautiful from the front and very usable. Specifically, see photos #7, #9 & #11. We find no nicks, chips, scratches, cracks, hairlines, other flakes or repairs. There appears to be absolutely no wear to the colors and no crazing. Look in the photos to see this. The lack of utensil scratches on the set attests to the high quality of the porcelain china. When you run your finger around the rim of the bowls, it literally sings to you attesting to the quality of the porcelain. DIMENSIONS: The coupe soup bowls have a diameter of 7 5/8″ and a height of 1 3/8″. HISTORY/MARKS: Charles Field Haviland is the nephew of David Haviland, who started his company in 1853 in Limoges, France to manufacture china for the American market. Charles Field in 1858 married Loiuse Alluaud, the granddaughter of the Alluaud porcelain family. In 1876 management of the firm was entrusted to Charles Field Haviland and the name was changed prior to his retirement in 1881. When he retired, the name was bought and has passed down through several firms until the present day. However, the style of the china is early 1900′s. GDA stands for Gerard, Dufraisseix, & Abbot. In addition, there is a red overglaze ribbon mark indicating Charles Field Haviland as the decorating studio as well as having the “W” which indicates the importer was Wanamaker Department Stores of New York. Please view all pictures carefully as they are part of the description. The stand was used as a photo prop and is not part of this listing. See additional international policies below. This is ready to use or display with pride in your home. We strive to have satisfied customers. Please view each photo carefully. We try to include enough information while noting any imperfections that we see. Request additional photos as needed. We deal primarily with antique and vintage items. Since these items are of considerable age, normal age appropriate wear can be expected and the items are not “new” or necessarily in “perfect” condition. Listing and template services provided by inkFrog. This item is in the category “Pottery & Glass\Cookware, Dinnerware & Serveware\Bowls”. The seller is “semloh” and is located in this country: US. Exquisite Decorative SMOOTH RIM 14 Sided Set of 11 Rimmed SOUP BOWLS from W. DESCRIPTION: The beautiful smooth rim decorative plate was decorated with the Green Chatsworth pattern. The design of the pattern includes a large floral spray in the center of the bowl and 6 smaller sprays spread around the wide, flat rim. The bowl’s scrollwork embossing is decorated with gold highlighting. It is very unusual to find the Chatsworth pattern in a true green. CONDITION: While this set of 11 rimmed soup bowls is classified as used, the condition is very good, particularly considering their age. Five of the bowls have very minor flakes on the back rim. Another has a tiny nick the front rim. There are no cracks, rubbings or hairlines. There is some very fine crazing as is normally evident on this type of china produced in this time period. As is normal, the 3 stilt marks are evident on the back of the bowls, but they are not prominent. See the photos to observe the condition for yourself. The bowl’s gold either shows some wear or was not evenly applied. There is no utensil scratches from use on the center of the bowls. These noted issues really are minor and do not affect the beauty or functionality of the set. DIMENSIONS: The bowls have diameter of 8 15/16″ with a height of 1 3/8″. HISTORY/MARKS: William Harry Grindley founded his pottery at the Newfield Pottery in 1880 at Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. In 1891, the company moved to the Woodland Pottery. The product which was mainly aimed for the U. And other overseas markets included Flow Blue and decorated Earthenware dinnerware or ironstone china. Alfred Clough, Ltd bought the pottery in 1970 renaming it in 1978 to Grindley on Stokes. Unfortunately, the pottery was already in trouble and was placed in receivership in 1991. Woodlands Pottery took over and still operates it today. The British Registration #287325 (issued 1896) for the pattern Chatsworth. This was also patented Feb. 2nd, 1897 in the USA. Both of these notations are on the back of the bowls. Please view all pictures carefully as they are part of the description. The stand was used as a photo prop and is not part of this listing.
