Vintage mid-century modern soup bowls or small tureens from California pottery manufacturers, likely dating from the 1950s to 1970s. They feature a ribbed, melon-like design with a glossy yellow-green glaze (often described as avocado, mustard, or chartreuse in similar pieces), two handles for easy carrying, and a matching ceramic ladle in one of them. The style is characteristic of casual, colorful tableware produced in Southern California during that era, often used for serving soups, stews, or sides. The markings on the bases-CALIF. USA C-110 AMC-3″ on one and “CALIF. USA C609″ on the other-are typical of generic “California USA pottery stamps used by various studios or companies like those associated with Metlox or similar mass-producers, rather than a specific branded maker. These pieces were part of a broader trend in affordable, decorative ceramics inspired by the region’s vibrant lifestyle and often distributed through department stores or as promotional items.
