Wendy Johnston Studio Pottery Bowl – Vibrant Early Work, Signed, 7.25″ x 3.5″ – Abstract Hand-Painted Art Pottery, Canadian Artist, One-of-a-Kind. Step into the captivating world of Canadian ceramicist Wendy Johnston with this original signed studio pottery bowl. Believed to be an earlier work from Johnston’s evolving body of art, this vibrant piece embodies the dynamic, expressive energy that characterizes her career-long before her narrative bird series and figurative themes emerged. Hand-thrown and hand-painted in her signature abstract style, this shallow bowl features kinetic brushstrokes in golden yellow, bold cobalt blue, earthy crimson, and black. Each movement across the surface carries the artist’s imprint-both literally and stylistically. The palette evokes Johnston’s influences: the contrast between nature and industry, the play between structure and freedom, and her fascination with European decorative motifs filtered through a Canadian lens. With a diameter of approximately 7.25 inches and a height of 3.5 inches, this bowl is perfectly sized to serve as a small centerpiece, bookshelf accent, or entryway conversation starter. It is signed on the underside simply “Johnson” in black underglaze, with a distinctive looping “J” and linear finish -a mark consistent with Johnston’s documented earlier works. A true one-of-a-kind example of mid-career exploration, this piece stands apart from her current catalog-yet carries the same spirit of color, contrast, and curiosity. Condition: Pre-loved and in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Please note: This is a handcrafted, original piece of studio pottery. Any minor irregularities or variations in glaze, texture, or brushwork are. Flaws, but rather an intentional and authentic result of the artist’s hand. These organic nuances are part of what make studio ceramics so collectible-and so alive. ? Multiple high-resolution photos provided, including lifestyle context for scale and styling.
