This offering is for an antique stoneware sugar bowl. The bowl is made of a dark buff colored pottery with a creamy off white glaze. The are two brushed blue lines at the neck. The handles are applied. The jar measures app. 4.25″ in height and 5″ in diameter not counting the handles. There are two small narrow flakes off of the inside of the rim edge and a tiny glaze flake on one handle. Otherwise the condition is very nice with no cracks or breaks. Early Van Briggle Bowl & Flower Frog Description and Item Information Up for sale is this antique Van Briggle pottery bowl and flower frog. Please excuse the glare in the photos. The low bowl is plain in shape, and the frog features three frogs. Both are finished in a a gorgeous matte blue and green glaze. The bowl stands approximately 1 7/8 inches tall, and it has a maximum diameter of about 8 1/2 inches. The frog is about 2 1/4 inches tall, and it has a maximum diameter of approximately 4 7/8 inches. Unpacked, the set weighs 3 pounds 3.8 ounces. This set would look great in an arts and crafts decor, or it would be a wonderful addition to a collection of American art pottery. Identification These early Van Briggle pottery pieces are marked beneath as shown. The marks are difficult to make out, and the exact age of these antique pieces is not known. They were made in Colorado Springs, Colorado during the early 20th century. Condition The pieces have no chips or cracks. They have light wear. The bowl has a few small rust stains. As made, the bowl has some scattered pinprick glaze dimples and there are a couple of small raised bumps. Variations in glazing are as made. Kiln stilt marks and small ground off areas beneath are also as made. Terms of Sale 1. Payments must be received within three days of the end of the listing, unless prior arrangements have been made. Historical Staffordshire Dark Blue Gravy Tureen Lion Handles Bridge Scene Circa. This almost 200 year sauce tureen measure 8″ by 4.1″ wide and 2.75 tall with lid off. Lid have a chip on the under rim which appear to be a production flaw. Tureen is in very good condition with the exception of crazing and staining as can be seen in the pictures. Chinese Sang De Boeuf Pottery Bowl Early 20thC. This stunning example of early 20th century Chinese ceramics is a bowl decorated with the exotic and difficult to make sang-de-boeuf finish, beautifully streaked with purple and blue on a red background with a lilac interior; it carries a 4 character painted mark to the base. Measuring 14cm tall and 11cm across. It is in very good condition with only some crazing to the interior, a few tiny nibbles on the inside of the footrim, a sub-1mm ding and a well-repaired 1cm chip to the outer rim; it is a particularly stunning example. Vintage McCarty Pottery 22 Piece Lot. 8 cups, varying in size. 5 salt + pepper cellars or butter pats. 4 thumbprint dinner plates. 3 bowls, varying in size. 1 Folded snack bowl. 1 Pitcher for coffee service. Early and rare work from Pup and Lee McCarty of McCarty’s Pottery in Merigold Mississippi. Made from Mississippi Delta mud. All pieces decorated in a mix/layering of McCartys iconic jade, cobalt, and nutmeg glazes. A similar pitcher is featured on the McCarty’s website and noted as being made at the Barn and retired. All pieces clearly signed on the bottom. Pups signature is on the pitcher, bowls, smaller cups, two plates and four of the larger cups. Lees signature appears on the folded bowl, cellars/pats, two thumbprint plates and two of the larger cups. Pitcher height 7½ width (front view) 5¼ depth 6. Folded Snack Bowl height 2 length 6¼ width 4¼. Thumbprint Plates height 1 width 9¾. Salt + Pepper Cellar, Butter Pats height ¾ to 1 width 3. Bowl height 1¾ width 6¼. Bowl height 1 width 6¾. Bowl height 2 width 6½. Large Cups height 3 width 3. Large Cups height 2¾ width 2¾. Small Cups height 2¼ width 2¾. Four large cups signed by Pup are slightly larger then the two made by Lee. In addition, Lees cups are slightly narrower at the bottom. There is several sparse instances of glaze popping from original firing, appears on smaller cup (refer last photo) and pitcher. Small chip on the outer rim of the folded bowl. One of the three bowls has two very small chips located at the outer and inner rim. Pitcher has an old repair on spout, generally not visible unless you are looking for it. Three bowls have some old residue/remnants of adhesive felt padding on bottom. All remaining pieces are in VG+ to excellent vintage condition with no chips, repairs, ect. Group is very stunning in person. Ships insured within 1-2 days.
