This is in Excellent Condition with No Chips No Cracks. NOTE: there is natural crazing throughout and two touch ups on the rim (SEE pictures with pen). Very Nice Sceanux Pottery Covered Bowl. This features a white ground with hand painted Victorian scenes of people. This has two scalloped handles and a branch style handle on the lid with gold trim. On 9 August 1748 Louis François de Bey established a concern to manufacture soft-paste porcelain, of which Jacques Chapelle (1721-73) was co-owner and director. They made table wares painted in colors including a characteristic pink. Glot registered the S. Mark with the Paris police on 12 July 1773 and another mark associated with the factory is an anchor, sometimes with the letters SP. This measures 4 1/2 High x 10. Wide handle to handle. Exterior with three vignettes; 1. The West View of Cast Iron Bridge on the River Wear; 2. Sailors Farewell, and 3. A poem Glide on my bark the summers tide. The interior with three vignettes; 1. Poem England, England Glorious name and 3. Condition: minor flakes to lustre to rim; firing crack in foot rim. The cast iron bridge was erected over the river Wear in 1796. At that time it was the longest single span bridge in the world. The Sailors Farewell, and The Sailors Return were ballads by Edward Thompson 1738?
