Rosenthal Hand Painted Signed Krumbiegel Wild Pink Roses Large Bowl Circa 1920s. Nicely decorated with hand painted pink wild roses over a peach, blue and yellow background. It is painted on both the inside of the bowl and the sides of the bowl. With gold gilding along the edge. Signed on the side of the bowl by the artist Krumbiegel. Marked Rosenthal Selb – Bavaria Donatello in green on the bottom. This mark was used by Rosenthal during the 1920s. Has some wear to the gilding, but otherwise excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Measures approximately 9 3/8 inches wide x 2 1/2 inches tall. This is vintage and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display of the piece. This listing is for a stunning Nippon decorative bowl, circa 1890′s. An early example of fine Japanese porcelain, this incredibly ornate bowl features extensive raised gilt embellishments or beading over the entire surface. T his piece also possesses fully hand-painted pale pink and magenta roses framed in medallions along the border. At center, the floral design aesthetic continues with a larger cabbage rose composition. The craftsmanship does not end there, because the exterior of this bowl also features hand-painted magenta roses! This centerpiece bowl measures approximately 10 inches in diameter. Excellent, preowned condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The gilt is pristine on this piece! On the underside, it is marked with Van Patten’s #52 mark or a blue maple leaf, which denotes production prior to 1891. GDA Charles Field Haviland Limoges 8 Coupe Soup Bowls Pink Roses Green Shamrocks. DESCRIPTION: This beautiful set of 8 coupe soup bowls has the embossed swirls that add to its uniqueness. The delicate pattern consists of pink roses & green shamrock leaves. There are grey ghost flowers and leaves to add to its allure. CONDITION: While this set is classified as used, the condition is superb. The only issue is a that one bowl has a small flake on the backside of the rim. All of the photos are taken of this bowl to show that it is still beautiful from the front and very usable. Specifically, see photos #7, #9 & #11. We find no nicks, chips, scratches, cracks, hairlines, other flakes or repairs. There appears to be absolutely no wear to the colors and no crazing. Look in the photos to see this. The lack of utensil scratches on the set attests to the high quality of the porcelain china. When you run your finger around the rim of the bowls, it literally sings to you attesting to the quality of the porcelain. DIMENSIONS: The coupe soup bowls have a diameter of 7 5/8″ and a height of 1 3/8″. HISTORY/MARKS: Charles Field Haviland is the nephew of David Haviland, who started his company in 1853 in Limoges, France to manufacture china for the American market. Charles Field in 1858 married Loiuse Alluaud, the granddaughter of the Alluaud porcelain family. In 1876 management of the firm was entrusted to Charles Field Haviland and the name was changed prior to his retirement in 1881. When he retired, the name was bought and has passed down through several firms until the present day. However, the style of the china is early 1900′s. GDA stands for Gerard, Dufraisseix, & Abbot. In addition, there is a red overglaze ribbon mark indicating Charles Field Haviland as the decorating studio as well as having the “W” which indicates the importer was Wanamaker Department Stores of New York. Exquisite Decorative 10 1/2 Bowl. DESCRIPTION: The unique centerpiece bowl was produced with beautiful hand painted pink flowers & green leaves. The pink flowers are nestled in their green leaves. Actually, there are several features that are truly eye-catching. One is the gold medallions that are embossed and painted in solid gold paint. Another is the gold swirls which form the cartouches containing the pink roses. The light green washes that fade to white in the center of the bowl are outstanding. There are even grey ghost leaves to give depth to the painting. The rim has a dark green band of varying width that has stippled gold on the edge. The beading separates the green band from the cartouches. This makes a beautiful display piece or can be used daily. CONDITION: While this bowl is classified as used, the condition is superb. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches or hairlines. There are no utensil marks & no wear to the gold. DIMENSIONS: The bowl has a diameter of 10 1/2″ with a height of 2 3/16″. Is frequently incorrectly named as Lewis Straus & Sons. But, in fact, the company of Lazarus Straus & Sons was founded in 1869 and successfully specialized in the import and resale of glass and ceramics. By 1874, Nathan Straus (one of 4 sons of Lazarus) convinced Macy’s to allow the shop-in-shop chinaware departments in all their stores. So successful was the venture that they formed the U. Based New York & Rudolstadt Pottery Company, Inc. To import from the Rudolstadt Works in Thurginia, Germany. With expanding business, Lazarus Straus opened subsidiaries in France L. Limoges, a decorating studio and Bohemia while maintaining a glass importing business in London. Lazarus died in 1898 and, by 1896, Nathan had full control of the business which he retained until 1930 when it closed. In 1924, he renamed the business Nathan Straus and Sons. The source for the above is: Bohemian Decorated Porcelain by Dr. Henderson and the subscribed web source porcelainmarksandmore. The orange decorator overglaze mark on the bowl is mark #1 in Mary Frank Gaston’s Collector’s Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain, 3rd Edition. This mark was used from 1891 to the mid 1920′s. And made in ITALY! The tureen has all kinds of 3 DIMENSIONAL scrolls and puff panels and more! There are two large roses and two buds in front and one large rose in the back. HAND PAINTED flowers and buds on both sides of the bottom and both sides of the lid too! It measures 17 1/2″ long , 10 1/4″ tall and is 8 1/2 wide. So ELEGANT for a CENTERPIECE! Here we have a really FABULOUS, ELEGANT and HUGE FOOTED 17 1/2 LONG CAPODIMONTE Covered Bowl, Tureen, or CENTERPIECE with GORGEOUS HUGE HAND MADE ROSES, BUDS and LEAVES you can see the fingerprints on the flowers and leaves! And made in ITALY! The tureen has all kinds of 3 DIMENSIONAL scrolls and puff panels and more! There are two large roses and two buds in front and one large rose in the back. HAND PAINTED flowers and buds on both sides of the bottom and both sides of the lid too! It measures 17 1/2″ long , 10 1/4″ tall and is 8 1/2 wide. So ELEGANT for a CENTERPIECE! The handles are “PEEKABOO” which means you can see through the pattern! Signed on the base with the Capodimonte crown, “N”, and Made in Italy. Great condition with no cracks, chips.
