Antique Wedgwood Lobster Bowl. Approx 9 7/8″ in diam and 4.5″ tall. No chips or crack. Excellent antique, used condition with wear to the bottom of the feet and lobsters heads (contact points). Otherwise, little to no loss of painted patterns, small scratches inside and crazing on the outside. Please check the picks, they are part of the description.

Rare Vintage Lobster Footed Bowl With Metal Rim And Handle Handle Needs Repair

This is a very rare lobster footed bowl with metal rim and handle. These types of bowl gained popularity during the Victorian period through the 1940s-50s. The height of their popularity was from the late 1800s to the 1930s. The lobsters with open claws and longer antennae are very similar to ones produced by Carlton Ware and Villeroy & Boch. The markings on the bottom are as follows (they are faint, so this is the best of my ability to read them). B (possibly another number or letter after the B). Condition – the bowl is overall in good condition for the age. The lobsters are clear with no chips in the ceramic. Each lobster has small spots of paint ware on the back of their head, as well as paint ware on the tails from where the bowl sits on them. The bowl itself does have some discoloration spots and crazing, mostly on the inside of the bowl itself. The metal rim and handle have no marks or imprints, so it is likely silver plated. One side of the metal handle has come loose from the rim, but it is an easy repair. It does look like it has possibly been repaired/reattached at some point in the past. Overall it is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, or unrepairable issues. I have spent a lot of time researching this bowl. While several manufacturers had lobster footed bowls with a metal rim, one with a metal handle is much less common. I found one other example, but they were not able to definitively identify the bowl either. The bowl is 6 inches in diameter, 3.25 inches tall, the inside of the bowl is 2.25 inches deep, and the handle is approximately 3.5 inches tall it it’s highest point. Large Wedgwood Majolica serving lobster bowl c. Large Wedgwood majolica pedestal scalloped bowl has bright colored panels of impressed lobsters and plantation. Interior of bowl is a beautiful turquois blue with the background color of the panels alternating in turquois blue and white. Makers/Artists Marks: Bowl has impressed word, “Wedgwood”, impressed letters, “XFK” and letter “R”. Three letter code dates this piece to, 1882. Hand painted letters and numbers are, M2928B. Dimensions: Approximate overall height is, 5 1/4″ inches high and width is 10 3/4″ inches. Condition: No chips, cracks or repairs. As expected there is very fine crazing all over this piece with some discoloration (see pictures), but nothing that takes away from the beauty of this piece. Typical of these antique pieces with this type of glaze there are a few pin holes/ broken glaze bubbles. All packages are professionally packed. The remarkable Carl Tielsch Porcelain Divided Lobster Dish. A perfect lobster extends legs, claws antennae and an arched tail used as a handle for this provocative double sided clam shaped seafood dish. The lobster is carefully hand painted a traditional lobster red color. The clam shells are Pink/White and decorated with shiny gold gilt. The entire piece is 14 length and 11 width and 4 ½ height. This piece dates to the late 1800s and displays a faded blue eagle mark on the bottom. To be very accurate does have a small chip around the rim.
