Excellent condition, NO chips or cracks. Large bowl measures 9 in diameter on top rim. Small bowl measures 4-7/8 in diameter on top rim. The Vernon stamp says Early California, Authentic Vernonware, Vernon Kilns, Calif. Made in USA and was used in the 1930s and probably through the 1940s. You can clearly see the mark on the bottom of the yellow bowl, partially see the stamp on one of the medium green bowls, barely see the stamp on the other medium green bowl and hardly see it at all on the dark green one but it looks like its there if you hold it just right in the light. My guess is that these bowls were probably manufactured in the mid to late 1940s. Vernon Kilns was founded in 1931 in Vernon, California, and manufactured there until 1958. The item “Vintage Vernon Kilns 5 Nested Mixing Bowls USA Early California Vernonware” is in sale since Wednesday, June 24, 2020. Eugene White pieces were produced from 1942 – 1948. This beautiful terra-cotta bowl has a wonderful hand-hammered lid. The bowl is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The bowl does have crazing throughout – but Eugene made most of his pieces with a decorative crackle glaze so this piece probably came out of his studio this way. Other than that here are no chips or cracks to the bowl. The underside of the bowl is inscribed with “Eugene White California” in script. This bowl measures 13 3/4″ in diameter and is 2 5/8″ high from flat surface (table) to rim. The lid is hand-hammered with a piece of glazed ceramic as the handle – trapped by a copper strap riveted to the lid with 2 tiny copper studs. I have not touched the copper in terms of cleaning so you have a vintage patina! Don’t let this piece pass you by – particularly if you live in Arts & Crafts / Craftsman home!
