1950′s MCM Art Pottery FLAMINGO BIRD LOT OF 4 Ceramic Pink Figurines in the Style of California Art Pottery Like Maddux/Will George/Etc. And a Marked Maddux Caliornia Los Angeles # 1024 Art Pottery Pond or Bowl. MIXED LOT of 5 Total Pieces. DESCRIPTION : Nice Vintage C. 1950′s-60′s MCM mid century modern Art Pottery Flamingo Bird figurine Mixed LOT of 4 figurines and a Maddux California USA art pottery marked bowl or pond for figurines. Maker of figurines is unknown but resemble California art pottery makers like Maddux and Will George. This would make a great display piece, resell in your shop, investment, collection, wonderful gift, or for display in home or office setting! RANGE FROM 4 TO 6.5″ inches tall and the pond/bowl is 13″ by 6.5″ inches across and 1 5/8″ inches tall. CONDITION: Varies but overall Good(-) pre-owned condition with some notable flaws. The smallest figurine with head down has a chip/flaw to where the beak hits the body. The bowl/pond has some minor fleabites/chips to the sides and rim. Generally, they all have some crazing, a few glaze imperfections, perhaps some light surface marks, wear, scratches, and imperfections from age and prior use. Vintage Charlotte Walker Studio Pottery Bowl Description and Item Information Up for sale is this vintage studio pottery bowl or open mouth vase. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This piece was beautifully hand thrown and decorated. It has a three sided shape, and it is finished in white and brown glazes. This pot stands approximately 3 inches tall, and it is about 4 3/4 inches across this varies somewhat depending on where it is measured. Unpacked, it weighs 9.2 ounces. This would be a fine addition to a collection of mid-century American studio ceramics. Identification This item is by Charlotte Walker, a listed artist within the Vasefinder Online Museum. Per Vasefinder, Walker was from Oakland, California, and she exhibited in the Nationals in 1951. The age of this example is not known. Condition This pot looks great overall, with no chips or cracks. This bowl was made of pottery by California Faience. It measures approximately 6 3/8 inches across the top and about 2 3/8 inches tall. Any spots in the photos are just camera flash glare. Pond Farm Studio Pottery Vessel Description and Item Information Up for sale is this vintage Pond Farm studio art pottery bowl or vase. Please excuse the glare in the photos. This piece is approximately 3 inches tall, with a diameter of about 5 3/4 inches. Unpacked, it weighs 11.2 ounces. The interior has a lustrous brown glaze, and the exterior is shiny and blue, with some matte brownish areas. The exterior has decoration of horizontal bands. This would be a fine addition to a collection of studio ceramics. Identification This vintage pot is incised beneath, “Pond Farm, ” as shown. A number “20″ is also written beneath in pencil, as found. Marguerite Wildenhain, an important potter, founded Pond Farm. She is listed on askART and on Vasefinder, and her works have been exhibited by many museums. Per the Vasefinder Museum and the Robert V. Starting in 1914, she studied sculpture at the School of Applied Arts in Berlin. In 1919, she commenced studies at the Bauhaus in Weimar, where she studied with Max Krehan and Gerhard Marcks. Wildenhain taught at the Municipal School for Arts and Crafts in Halle-Saale, where she was head of the ceramics program. She relocated to Putten, Holland during the 1930s, where she had a studio with her husband. She moved to the United States in 1940, settling in northern California. Wildenhain taught at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland. She moved to Pond Farm in 1942, in Guerneville, California (north of San Francisco). Summer workshops commenced in 1949. At Pond Farm, she taught some of the greatest artists from around the world. Wildenhain exhibited at the Nationals during 1940, 1946, 1947, and 1950. Condition This piece looks good overall, with light wear and no chips or cracks. Minor asymmetry is as made. Variations in glazing are also as made. Vintage Green Bauer Pottery Indian Bowl Description and Item Information Up for sale is this vintage Bauer pottery Indian bowl. Please excuse the glare in the photos. This pot has a beautiful jade green glaze. In four positions on the pot’s upper exterior, there are sets of vertical tabs. This can be displayed as a vase or jardiniere. This piece stands approximately 5 9/16 inches tall; it is about 9 7/8 inches in diameter at the top. It weighs 5 pounds 3.7 ounces, unpacked. This uncommon piece would be a fabulous addition to an early California decor. Identification This piece is guaranteed to be vintage Bauer pottery of Los Angeles, California. This size number 8 bowl is marked beneath, as shown. Condition This pot looks very good overall, with minor wear and fine scratches from use. There are some dark scuff marks to the interior. As found and as shown in Photo 6, there is a vertical hairline crack from the rim downward; this is about 2 1/2 inches long. This pot is not drilled, so the bottom is intact; there is minor glaze wear to the edges of the round indented area to the interior bottom. There are no clay chips. As made, there are minor factory flaws such as indents, raised areas (including a raised linear area to the side that is about an inch long, shown in Photo 7), glaze bubbles, etc. Terms of Sale 1.
