Please enlarge and look at all photos carefully as they are a large part of the description. This Native American bowl pot has a nice rounded shape that is symmetrical & well balanced. It has a rich soft cream/buff color polished to a nice sheen. The polished cream finish is unique to the Jemez tribe. The clay is collected from the hills at the pueblo. It would be a beautiful addition to any collection. Handmade by a master potter Geraldine Sandia, award winning artist of the Jemez Pueblo in New Mexico, daughter of Cecilia & Arthur Loretto. I did much research, but still cannot define the signage, etc. Looks very much like the “Santa Clara” made pottery and also that it is a Vintage piece. Measures 4″ across the top rim, 19 1/4″ around widest mid-section, and 6 1/2 high. See all pictures for added details of this RARE piece of black pottery. Solid black pottery pot with no cracks or dings, etc. There is, however, some age type spots on the lower sides of this pot.

Native American Vintage Hopi Fannie Nampeyo Polychrome Large Pottery Bowl. This is a wonderful 1950′s? Polychrome vessel by Fannie Nampeyo, daughter of Nampeyo of Hano, the grand matriarch of Hopi pottery. This example has a rich patina and is fairly large, 4 1/2″ tall X 71/2″ wide at the top. The bowl has some minor disturbances in the design and a few very light scratches, consistant with its age. There are no chip or cracks. Singed Fannie Nampeyo on bottom. As found, including a coiled old baling twine/jute plant holder that was never used. The Condition is “Used”. An item like this will need to be securely packaged of course. Surrounded by the Navajo Reservation, Hopi consists of three Mesas, and each Mesa has several villages. This is part of the inventory I inherited after the passing of my Aunt. She and my Uncle owned a Trading Post/store on Route 66 in Northern Arizona. This is one of the many pieces of jewelry that has been in storage for over 50 years. Condition: Good; surface wear from age and use Materials: clay. Size: 5.125 W x 3 1/4H.
