This is a beautifully made mid-century Swedish studio stoneware bowl, finished in a rich iron-brown glaze with hand-applied cream slip sgraffito decoration. The repeating fern or wheat motif circling the interior rim is classic Scandinavian design-functional, restrained, and timeless. A substantial, well-balanced form with real presence, equally suited for display or everyday use. Authentic Swedish studio stoneware. Hand-thrown, iron-rich clay body. Hand-applied cream slip sgraffito decoration. Traditional Scandinavian fern / wheat motif. Marked “Made in Sweden” on the base. Impressed workshop mark and size code “20″. Offering this vintage Kevin Osborn studio pottery bowl with hand incised abstract decoration around rim, notable Tucson, Arizona studio pottery, signed and dated 1976 on bottom, in very good condition with no chips of cracks, there is a firing flaw on bottom but does not go all the way through, see pic of signature area – flaw on left side – does not go through or show on other side inside of bowl. Substantial piece but quite thin, weighing 3 pounds. Measures 12 1/8 inches wide by 4 3/8 inches tall.

Since 1979, Wayne starts with fine English porcelain that he shapes on the potters’ wheel.
