Vintage Royal Crown North Carolina Pottery Bowl Description and Item Information Up for sale is this wonderful piece of vintage North Carolina art pottery. Please excuse the glare in the photos. This handthrown bowl has a beautiful green rutile glaze with minor areas of ochre/tan. This piece has a ruffled rim, with applied loop handles to either side. The bowl measures approximately 11 3/8 inches long by 9 3/4 inches wide by 3 1/8 inches tall. It weighs 2 pounds 9.1 ounces, unpacked. It would be a great addition to a collection of southern folk art. Identification This vintage bowl was made in Merry Oaks, North Carolina at the Royal Crown Pottery (circa 1939 to 1942). It has a Royal Crown ink mark beneath, as shown in Photo 6. Condition This piece looks very good overall, with no cracks or chips, and very light wear. As made, there are variations in glazing, including some drips and small bubble pops. Terms of Sale 1. Vintage ARTIST DALE NEESE Pottery 9 Pc Handled BOWLS w/COVERED SERVING DISH. My feedback speaks for itself. Just part of an interesting collection of better women’s clothing, shoes and quality household items found at a local estate here in Huntington Beach, Ca. See our other listings for more items! Pre owned displayed and loved I contacted the artist and he said that these were his “antiques, ” in other words, some of his earlier works as he stated that he no longer uses these glazes. Each bowl measures about 6 5/9 inches across the top (not including the handle) by 3 inches tall. The covered dish is 8 3/8 inches across the top of the bowl without the lid; with the lid on it is 9 inches across by about 3 1/2 inches tall. The bowls are about 3/8 inch thick. There is a hole in the top of the lid for steam/heat making it perfect to keep and serve tortillas. The bowls are super-sized! These is an awesome set and certainly one of a kind Hand Wash ds23. Condition: Great condition; One of the bowls is about 1/8 inch shorter than the rest, has crazing on the inside bottom. The inside bottom is also darker than the rest. No differences on the outside decoration or glaze. Non of these have any chips, cracks or repairs. Like I said, they have either been displayed only… Or if they were ever used, they were very well taken care of. I guarantee the item to be as described.
