Royal Austria Vintage 1910s 8 Hand Painted Grapevine Dessert Bowls. According to the back stamp this set was manufactured from 1899 to 1918 by Oscar and Edgar Gutherz of Altrolau, Bohemia. Pristine antique condition – no signs of use, defects or damages. Hand painted – each bowl/dish have a slightly different shading, but all of the pedestals are painted gorgeous deep malachite color. Dimensions 4 x 3 in. Weight 1 lb 14 oz. Oscar Gutherz started a porcelain decorating business in Altrolau in 1884, using financial backing from the American importer Lazarus Straus & Sons. The company subsequently expanded into porcelain production. In 1898, Oscar’s brother, Edgar Gutherz, bought out Marx and joined Oscar in the business, which became known as the Oscar & Edgar Gutherz O. In 1918 the Royal Austria Factory ceased to be; instead it became part of OEPIAG, the Austrian Porcelain Industry.

A beautiful early English pair of diamond shaped serving dishes. Hand painted in the imari “Waterlily” pattern with. Exquisite gold gilt details. The dishes are marked “Turner’s-Patent” in iron red script dating to C. This pair is larger than the set of four I have listed. In excellent condition showing only very minor wear, scratches, glaze imperfections. The dishes measure 11.25″ wide 9″ deep & 1.75high. One with a small wobble due to warped base.
