Established in 1830, the company was known for producing Royal Vitreous Porcelain dinnerware, tea sets, and toilet ware, with a reputation for intricate floral designs. Historical documentation from The Pottery & Glass-Brass Salesman indicates the company operated under various names over time: initially as J. Maddock from 1842 to 1855, then J. Maddock & Son from circa 1855 to 1870, and J. Maddock & Sons from circa 1870 to 1896. In 1896, it incorporated as John Maddock & Sons Ltd, suggesting that the absence of “Ltd” in the user’s description points to a manufacturing date before 1896. Given the user’s mention of “John Maddock and Sons” without “Ltd, ” it aligns with the period from 1870 to 1896, a common timeframe for their export ware marked with Ethe bowl was made by John Maddock & Sons between 1870 and 1896 in Staffordshire, England, based on historical records. Very large basin excellent in used condition.

EARLY ANTIQUE MIXING BOWL, ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!! DOES HAVE THE MINOR BLEMISHES THAT IS AS EXPECTED. NOTE THE HAIRLINES(shown) ON THE BOTTOM.. THEY DO NOT GO THROUGH TO THE INSIDE. I HAVE USED THIS BOWL TOO MANY TIMES TO COUNT OVER THE LAST 40 plus YEARS. ALSO MUCH CRAZING AND “LOTS” OF THE DESIRED STAINING…. More of a cream color. Adding to the patina! Please refer to all photos! THE BOWL IS NOT PERFECTLY ROUND. NOR IS IT THE EXACT HEIGHT ALL THE WAY AROUND. Making it an early piece for sure. THINK OF EVERYTHING THAT HAS BEEN MIXED AND BAKED IN THIS ONE BOWL, INCLUDING ME?? 11″ in diameter x 5.25″ deep. Perfect for bread making! IF YOU LOVE WHITE IRONSTONE…. PLEASE SAVE “the dove cottage” to your FAVORITES. I WILL BE LISTING OVER 100 PIECES OF MY PERSONAL COLLECTION.
