These have a great look to them and are free of any chips or cracks. The detailing is really beautiful. There may be some surface wear from age which is to be expected. TWO (2) NATIVE AMERICAN “HOPI” BOWLS. HAND COILED AND HAND PAINTED. THEY HAVE MINOR RUBS AND PAINT LOSE. THE LARGEST VERY OLD BOWL HAS A CRACK THAT YOU CAN SEE. IN PICTURES IT MEASURES APPROXIMATELY. 5″ X 1.5″. THE SMALLEST BOWL MEASURES ABOUT 4.25″ X 1.5″. THESE LOVELY BOWLS ARE NOT SIGNED.
This item is 1 quality no slashes through the Meissen crossed swords! Richly decorated with handpainted pink Indian flower pattern. This item is in excellent condition, no chips, cracks, no paint loss. This item is over 100 years old! Measurements: 6.25 tall. 7 spout to handle. RARE Antique Vintage Stoneware Bowl w/ Native American Indian Chief imprinted on the bottom. From National Pottery Company Roseville Ohio. This is a large deep bowl with “National” on the bottom along with their signature logo of an American Indian Chief in full headdress imprinted / stamped / engraved into the clay. It is brown glazed on the inside. The National Pottery Company was in Roseville, OH, in business from 1920 to 1940. Only glazed on the interior of bowl for practical purposes and uses. Measures 10″ diameter, 5 1/2″ tall, 6 across the bottom base. Beautiful Bowl, Condition is excellent. Shadowed areas are from age and use as stoneware gets that way. Sits flat, no chips cracks or damage. Any imperfection is from production. Thank you for your interest. Fine and nice thin walled high quality pottery Hopi small dough / serving bowl. Made of all hand coiled native clay and sheep dung fired in the traditional way and painted with vegetal paints, with a hand made yucca brush this pot is as nice as can be and very typical of her work. Pauline Setalla (1930 -), married into the Frog Woman/Feather Woman families. Pauline Talasyousia married Justin Navasie Setalla, and Pauline learned to make pottery when she was immersed in the Navasie family. It was reported by her son that she is in ill health and has retired from making pottery. She had 10 children, some of whom are potters carrying on her legacy. She was raised on the village of Mishongovi on the Hopi Reservation. She learned pottery production techniques from her mother-in-law, Agnes Navasie, and her sister-in-law, Eunice Navasie. HER POTTERY APPEARS IN MANY PROMINENT PUBLIC AND PRIVATE COLLECTIONS including the Smithsonian, Heard, and Peabody. She has shown in Santa Fe and Santo Domingo. This piece is as near perfect as you can get, no chips, cracks or crazing only one small piece of glazed clay inside bowl, as photographed, any white spots are reflections in photography. 6-1/2diameter and stands 4tall, and weighs in at 3lbs 7.8oz.
