This offering is for an antique Staffordshire Mochaware Bowl. The bowl features one wide band in a peach or pink color and seven thin blue bands. The bowl measures app. 3 3/8″ tall and 5 5/8″ in maximum diameter. There is appropriate crazing, imperfections and light wear with only one tiny 1/8 shallow flat flake off of the bottom edge of the foot as seen in our photo’s. The form is somewhat unusual I think in that the body of the bowl has a very slightly convexed curve rather than having an angled straight side. This vintage late 19th century oversize Chinese planter is beautifully designed with detailed hand painted scenes. The front panel showcases nightingales perched on a flowering tree branch alongside blooming bamboo shoots. The back panel depicts colorful wild pheasants amongst various wild flowers. The glazed pottery planter is accented with two sculpted. Foo dog heads positioned on each side of the panels. The base is unglazed & unsigned.
