Here we have an absolutely stunning white-bodied sugar bowl with its lid. In the bowl and lid glaze you can see deep red, brown, blue and white glaze applied to the outside allowing it to flow creating this beautiful marbled agate decoration. The sugar has an attractive recessed foot and applied handles. The domed lid has an easy to hold button knob handle. On the widest part of the outside of the bowl there are small spots where this sugar rubbed against another sugar resulting in glaze loss before this was fired in the kiln. This was covered with clear glaze in the final firing. Measuring 6″ across the rim by 5 ¾” in height to the top of the handle on the lid, this is in. Original mint condition with no post production damage or repairs. Both the lid and bowl and rings like a bell when you tap them. The underside of the recessed foot is stamped “SARREGUEMINES”. This was a French pottery founded in 1790, they were to France what Wedgwood was to England. This is an extremely rare mocha decorated signed sugar and any advanced collector would be pleased to add to their collection.

A rare find: These three nesting oval casserole bowls are an incredible example of pre-1950s touristware from Mexico. Likely made in the Guadalajara area, perhaps by the Tlaquepaque artist known as “Yellow Brick Road, ” but certainly by one of the pottery town’s top makers — the detail on the charro rider and his galloping horse on the largest bowl is very well done. It is an image of a horse and rider that I have seen on only one other tourist ware-era piece. Experts in this type of pottery, one a collector, the other a curator, say they are remarkable, special pieces. The medium bowl has a wonderful fishing scene reminiscent of fishermen on Lake Chapala near Guadalajara, and the smallest bowl has a full-face figure, rarely seen in tourist ware, with charming facial details. The colors are vivid, blue, green and yellow reflective of the glazes used in pre-1950s tourist ware, and there are no chips or marks — the white in the photos is light reflection, not scratches. The glaze has a pebble texture in some places on the pathways, echoing old cobblestones. These are really unique pieces and are in great condition having been very well cared for over the years. Very lightweight, which indicates their age, and still well-glazed. No marks, chips or fleabites. The largest bowl is 14.5 inches long and 9.5 inches wide. The middle one is 11 inches wide and 8 inches across. The smallest one is 9 inches across and 6.75 inches wide. They stand two inches high. They have a raised stamp on the back Made in Mexico. Of course, these will be double-boxed and well-packed since they are fragile. The item “Very Special Beautiful Trio Vintage Tlaquepaque Mexican Touristware Bowls” is in sale since Tuesday, July 23, 2019. I’m a big fan of San Jose Pottery and have never seen another of these plates. It features a black bird sitting amid the leaves of a tree branch. Most likely made in the 1920s or 1930s. Its gorgeous colors include aqua and cobalt blue, greens, brown, black, gray and a pale golden for the bird’s breast. It’s in wonderful condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. (There’s a tiny glaze pop below the branches on the right — please see last photo). Measures 10 1/8 across. The San Jose Mission logo is on the back. Plate stand not included. Please see photos and thanks for looking. The item “Very rare vtg San Jose Pottery charger plate dish bowl Black bird on branches” is in sale since Monday, June 10, 2019. This item is in the category “Pottery & Glass\Pottery & China\Art Pottery\Other Art Pottery”. The seller is “poingies” and is located in Los Angeles, California. Bitossi Londi Seta Lidded Dish Bowl Compote Gold Design Italy. This Italian ceramic pottery lidded vessel by Aldo Londi is in the “seta” or “silk” decor range. Originally designed in the late 1950′s for Bitossi Ceramiche in Montelupo, Italy, the vessel consists of vertical sgraffito lines that intersect at times as they move up to the top of the piece. The inside is painted in a glossy turquoise. The base is painted in black’10-10 Italy’. Condition: This piece shows signs of gentle use and wear. The gold rimming is very fragile with little loss. It seems the very top of the ceramic finial was broken and reglue X by a prior owner. There is some sort of raffia wrapped around the top 2 levels of the finial and the raffia around the top one has some loss and the remainder is set in the glue the owner must have used to set the finial. The lower raffia is somewhat loosely attached. Despite this, the damage is not terribly noticeable in my opinion; I only noticed upon close inspection. Dimensions: 6″tall x 6.75″ wide. It will weigh about 4 lbs packed safely. The item “Very nice vintage Bitossi Londi Seta Lidded Dish Bowl Compote Gold Design Italy” is in sale since Wednesday, February 08, 2017. VERY RARE VINTAGE BOOTHS ENGLAND REAL OLD WILLOW UNRECORDED SHAPE BOWL + LID. I’VE NEVER SEEN THIS SHAPE ANYWHERE ELSE. I’VE HAD THIS FOR A WHILE AND TRIED TO RESEARCH IT , NO ONE’S EVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT. IT’S A BOWL WITH A LID. OR TURNED THE OTHER WAY UP IT’S A STAND FOR A BOWL. THERE’S GROOVES SO IT ALL SIT’S TOGETHER CORRECTLY EITHER ON TOP OR BOTTOM. THE UNDER OR OVER PLATE HAS A PROVISIONAL PATENT MARK ON IT. I CAN CONFIRM THE 2 ITEMS DID ORIGINALLY COME TOGETHER BECAUSE I’VE GOT A DAMAGED BOWL WITH THIS SAME PROV PAT MARK ON IT. SO , OPINION SEEMS TO BE IT’S A BOWL FOR SOMETHING HOT , LIKE SOUP , AND TH DISH WHICH CAN BE A COVER OR UNDERPLATE. THE BOWL MEASURES APPROX 4 3/4 ACROSS AT THE TOP. THE BOWL MEASURES APPROX 2 1/4 HIGH. WITH THE DISH AS A COVER IT ADDS AN INCH ON THE HEIGHT MAKING IT 3 1/4 HIGH. PUT IN PLACE AS AN UNDERPLATE IT MEASURES APPROX 2 3/4 HIGH. THE COVER , OR STAND MEASURES APPROX 5 1/2 ACROSS. SO THERE ARE THE CORRECT RIDGES ON THE PIECES FOR IT ALL TO FIT EITHER WAY. WHEN USED AS A COVER THE TOP NOW SHOWS BIRDS IN FLIGHT AROUND THE CENTRE AREA. THERE IS ONLY VERY MINOR WEAR TO THE GILDING. BOTH PIECES ARE IN GOOD CONDITION WITH NO CRACKS , CHIPS , OR RESTORATIONS. PLEASE IGNORE ANY LIGHT REFLECTION PARTICULARLY ON THE RIM OF THE DISH. THERE IS GENERAL CRAZING. THERE IS MINOR WEAR TO THE GILDING. BACKSTAMPED ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE BOWL WITH THE EARLY CURVED MARK. IT’S A GREAT LOT THAT WILL ENHANCE ANY GOOD BOOTHS REAL OLD WILLOW COLLECTION. I CAN BE CONTACTED ON 07779 – 131352. The item “VERY RARE VINTAGE BOOTHS ENGLAND REAL OLD WILLOW UNRECORDED SHAPE BOWL + LID” is in sale since Tuesday, August 22, 2017.
