Vintage Hopi Pueblo Indian Pottery Bowl Beautiful authentic Native American unsigned piece Condition. This is an older piece that is not perfect. It has been cracked and repaired. It is also missing the coloring in a couple locations. Please be sure to look at the photos to judge the condition for yourself. I have this on display in my house and you can easily set it so the damage isn’t noticeable. I have received a lot of compliments on the piece. They said it was made between the 1950′s to 1970′s by the Hopi tribe, First Mesa in Arizona. I’m not a Native American pottery expert so I can only go off what they told me. Attributed to an Unknown Santo Domingo Pueblo Potter. The pottery is indeed a Santo Domingo Pueblo Dough. Bowl and is coiled and made of clay. The bottom of the. Bowl has a red color and has been burnished. Background color is buff with black geometric motifs. Santo Domingo has a long and distinguished tradition of. Beautiful handmade pottery which appears more simple. In form and design than the work of other Pueblos. Traditional Santo Domingo style features black or red. Designs on a buff color background often with a red base. The designs are large, blocky and symmetrical. Designs include flowers, geometric motifs such as circles. And scalloped patterns, and stylized birds and animals. The shape of your dough bowl is very round, more like a. High half-circle; there is untreated (no design) negative.
