Rare set of 5 vintage U. The pattern is similar to the McCoy fish scale pattern but more refined. I can’t find another example of these. (please message me if you know what this pattern is called). I have decided to part with them, but they will be missed. All of the bowls are marked on the bottom except for the yellow one. The sizes graduate in the following order: 9.5″, 8.5″, 7.5″, 6.5″ and 5.5. The actual sizes match the marks approximately. The condition of the bowls is very good considering their age no cracks or chips! There is some crazing but not on every bowl and it isn’t heavy. The peach bowl has the crazing and a slight discoloration spot inside. The yellow bowl has 2 black dots inside that appear to be in the glaze from the beginning. There are some surface scratches in the center of the bowls where mixing occurred. (to be expected) See pictures and feel free to message me if you need more pics. This offering is for an antique Staffordshire Mochaware Bowl. The bowl features one wide band in a peach or pink color and seven thin blue bands. The bowl measures app. 3 3/8″ tall and 5 5/8″ in maximum diameter. There is appropriate crazing, imperfections and light wear with only one tiny 1/8 shallow flat flake off of the bottom edge of the foot as seen in our photo’s. The form is somewhat unusual I think in that the body of the bowl has a very slightly convexed curve rather than having an angled straight side. If additional photo’s are needed or you have need of answers to questions we do not address we will be happy to supply them. WE USUALLY SEND OUR INVOICE WITHIN 1 HOUR OF THE AUCTIONS ENDING. Over here in France a standard breakfast or “petite déjeuner” is a bowl, yes a bowl, full of café au lait or hot chocolate, or roasted chicoree and milk. They use a bowl so they can easily dip their croissants or baguettes into the brew. Coffee cups are just to small to adroitly make this manoever. There are literally thousands of different motifs an gosh knows how many manufacturers. No doubt they have been used for thousands and thousands of breakfasts over their long lives and now perhaps if you don’t plan to put them into service they are ready for retirement on a nice comfy display shelf in your kitchen or dining room. This beautiful collection of 5 bowls in tones of orange and white. These bowls have seen quite a few “petite dejeuners” since the 1930s/1960′s but they are still very decorative if not practical. A Message To Our Friends. It has a been encore ” a moment” since I updated followers of green_stockings, lovers of everything FRENCH, bon vivants avec le bon goût, sensibilities that draw kindred spirits together. We are once again Moving. Not out of France, Mais Non jamais, rather to our house in the vines… The one we have been working on for so long. It is there we belong, surrounded by rural beauty and the peacefulness of nature. Where kids can run naked through the pastures and forests without offending anyone and I can once again hang my laundry to dry on a line outside where it can blow dry in the wind and smell divine. You know I have 6 boys don’t you? The bucolic beauty of the “blé” golden wheat, the gorgeous “grappes”grapes, the “cocquelicot” red poppies and “fleur sauvage” wild flowers await us all. Then the calm of an untraveled road sauf pour the “facteur” postman, and pulling veggies up from our own “potager” jardin for the freshest meals once again is reassuring. All in time to finish out the childrens primary school years in small stone country “ecole” school with our daily “pain” delivered into our mailbox when it’s too hot to bake… We can’t wait. Even the “etoiles” stars perform their theater nightly illuminating the heavens with a starry night fête we thrill to see. Because we’ll once again be living Outside we’ll have the chance to pull all the garden furniture out onto the lawns (I think I easily have 300 chairs) and all my eclectic collection of colorful linens for dressing tabletops and seat cushions à la bohemians that we truly are. So we’ll be a bit like vagabonds living out of our essential napsacs at first… Then gradually pulling more of the household over as we decide what will go where the best. It’s a bit of a conundrum. Yes I’ve got this four storied bourgeois house in ville piled high. It reminds me of the Jenga game where you pull out a piece and risk to have the whole thing tumble. I might find lost and nearly forgotten treasures, discover small furried friends distantly related to Mickey Mouse in our house then jump with a start to see those relatives of Charlotte about. I try to accept them as allies in our fight against bugs but all those eyes.. I just can’t figure out which two to look at. All in all I”m just so happy to be returning to our country home, our humble chateau, our baby’s “berceau cradle of some years ago. “Alors” Well Then I’ll be “fairing le triage” sorting out objects to sell so keep watching for surprises. I originally created my bowl sets rather randomly, based on a color or a motif. I tried to put in at least 2 special bowls in each set. Some colors are much harder to come across. You will notice I don’t have any white sets for example and only a few pink and purple, small childrens bowls are almost un heard of. These bowls can be used for all sorts of things: hors d’ouvres, candy display, flower bouquets etc. If you see bowls among my sets that you would rather have feel free to contact me and I will work with you to create the collection you want. I can regroup my sets afterwords. The item “5 Orange & WHITE Antique Vintage FRENCH café au lait BOWLS DIGOIN PEACH Tomato” is in sale since Friday, March 29, 2019. In Famille Rose colors and not signed, the fine Peach Form Bowl is of Chinese origin. I believe it is earthenware pottery. The Peach has applied Leaves, Stem and little Peach. The bowl is green glazed with pink spattered glaze. This is an estate item from a Chinese Doctor (an American citizen who served in the US Air Force during WWII). CONDITION: Excellent, you need to know there is a short firing hairline on the edge of the bowl under the leaf on the right and that was in the making as well as a flake on the end of the leaf on the side of the bowl. Glaze is worn on the underside. MEASUREMENTS: 6″ long and 2 1/2″ at highest VINTAGE: Early 1900′s. My current listings are all fresh estate items. Please take a moment to review.
