Vintage Postmodern Studio Art Pottery Square Bowl / Centerpiece Dish. I believe the artist is Patrick Horsley. His mark is documented by The Marks Project. Stunning piece of vintage postmodern designer art pottery. Featuring a strong, architectural square shape, this decorative dish displays a dramatic flared rim with unique notched tab accents on the sides, all sitting elegantly atop a perfectly crisp, raised square foot ring. Glaze & Surface Finish Details. The glaze work on this piece is absolutely phenomenal, utilizing a brilliant mix of high-luster and tactile finishes. Base Finish: A smooth, highly reflective metallic gunmetal black gloss that catches the light beautifully, shifting between a deep oil-slick tone and dark polished steel. Accent Finish: Thick, flowing bands of a gold/amber “crawl” glaze running diagonally across the form. Detail Finish: Contrasting the dark metallic body are perfectly placed, three-dimensional raised dots of a smooth lavender/purple enamel glaze. Maker’s Marks / Stamps. The interior base features a highly unique, double-stamped maker’s mark impressed directly into the mold. Appears to be Patrick Horsley’s makers mark circa 1980′s. There is a small chip/imperfection as shown in photo # 19. It is not noticeable unless you know it’s there and are looking for it. Could be touched up if desired. Measures about 9.5″ at its widest x 9.25″. This is a really beautiful piece of vintage studio art pottery!
