Here we have an attractive antique American bowl in a unique pattern. This is an Ohio Valley piece of yellow ware dating to the 1870s. During this period there were hundreds of potters along the Ohio River, each trying to survive and create a market for their wares, hence the unique band pattern in this set. This bowl is decorated with three raised bands, two wide white and one mocha. The bowl has a pronounced rounded rim and foot. The rounded rim was a feature added to bowls to make it easier to pick them up without the bowl slipping out of your hands. These bowls made in graduated sizes, this bowl measures 12″ in diameter by 5 ½” high. This attractive bowl is free of damage and survives in its original condition after 150 years of use.
