Roseville Pottery Dogwood I / Dogwood Textured Vase Approx 12h X 8w Rv Mark

Lovely olive -drab green Dogwood I, aka “Dogwood Textured” Vase, or is it an urn? Not perfect, but who amongst us can still claim to look good and be going strong at 100+ years of age? This pattern always seems to “shed” tiny bits and pieces, but remember she is aging gracefully and imperfectly. The raised texture seems to make it a bit more fragile than most others. Rim is missing chunk of glaze. Clay is exposed, though I damaged. Multiple glaze flakes / minor chips along flower petal edge (common in this pattern). This piece has “pimples” plus bits of extra clay scattered throughout. Paint spatters and caked-on dirt present. Base might have had something glued to it at some point. A residue remains along dry rim. Manufacturing inconsistencies and imperfections are pointed out including minor pit on bottom dry rim, glaze skips and uneven coverage, and inside of vase showing areas not perfectly smoothed out, plus a random blotch of colored glaze. Heavy crazing and a milkiness to the glaze Sat outside in the sunlight, perhaps? No cracks or other issues noted. Black light tested for repairs. Interior shows some signs of use. Please see photos, as they are a part of the description. Blue Rv mark on bottom. See other listings for more Textured Dogwood. She’s a very big girl in size and weight. Or, I’m on the north side of the Dallas area, if you want to meet in a public place and make sure this piece makes it to a new home! I’ve downsized drastically and don’t have room for all my pretty things. Looking for new homes where these pieces can be enjoyed on a daily basis, not packed up in boxes (a crime, in my opinion)! Small Japanese Satsuma Pottery Bowl Painted Samurai Mark Hozan Meiji 1900

An antique Meiji period small Japanese satsuma pottery scalloped rim bowl that has been finely hand painted with an image of Japanese Samurai warriors. The base is marked with a gilded lozenge mark on an iron red ground: – Hozan, which can also translate as Takarayama. The bowl is covered with a deep blue cobalt glaze and decorated with gilded geometric, floral and scroll patterns. The inside of the bowl has a central five petal shaped reserved ground for the main decoration. This central cartouche has scene with three samurai clad in armour to the left under a tree, one holding a clan standard or flag, which looks similar to that of the Minamoto or Genji clan mon. He is stood behind another warrior who is mounted on a dappled horse. The horseman has a kuwagata maedate crest to his kabuto helmet, he has a sword at his waist and is holding a bow and has arrows in a quiver on his back. To his left is a third soldier with a sword and spear or pike. To the right of the three samurai are two figures, one a young girl who is leading a man, carrying a long bow, away from the group. This is a great example of good quality antique Japanese export Satsuma-yaki or Satsuma ware from the late 19th century dating from around 1900 during the Meiji period. The bowl is 3 3/4 inches (9.5 cm) diameter and 1 1/2 inches (3.8 cm) high, it weighs 96 grammes unpacked. It is in excellent antique condition with some very minor rubbing to the gilding and the usual crazing to the glaze. Please see the images.
