This beautiful piece is a family heirloom. This compote bowl is a lovely addition to any collection! The Amphora Porcelain Works, run by Reissner, Stellmacher, and Kessel. The brilliant colors show up in the photos in yellows, cobalt blue, blue hues, greens and rose. The bowl design is symmetrical with three raised gilt outlines of white brightly colored birds with black wings and three pattern designs with a center rose medallion with white swirls. The bowl is raised on three columns with a cobalt blue rim and on the base. The artwork is beautiful as are the colors! Photos shown are without flash and with camera light flash. Measurements & Weight: The Compote Bowl is about 8 across at the widest point, 5.4 in total height and Base 5.4. As photographed, the Amphora oval (inside an oval) mark says: Made in Amphora, Czecho-slovakia and marked 23 with handwritten numbers: 3089, 179. Notable History: This fine art piece was passed down through my family generations; from my Grandmother (she passed away in the 1970s and was in her late 70s), then to my Mother and for the last 9 years I have owned this piece. We do not know when or where my Grandmother acquired it or if it was passed to her from her Mother, my Great Grandmother. Condition: There are no cracks or scratches visible that we can see. There is one very tiny chip on the enamel green pattern design (see last photo). When the bowl is picked up, there is the sound of a small piece of pottery loose inside — possibly the porcelain piece left inside when the artisan created the small hole on the bottom of the bowl. Again, the exterior of the bowl has no cracks or broken pieces. Questions Welcome: We welcome any questions you may have! We will consider ALL REASONABLE OFFERS on this rare jewel of a piece!
