JAPANESE POTTERY BOWL IN. BEIGE WITH ORANGE LEAF PATTERN. AND RIBBONED WOODEN BOX. 3″ tall, 4-3/4″ wide. New and Pristine Condition. Japanese ceramics at it’s finest, this piece is gently formed from the footed base rising to a gracefully shaped beige bowl. A lovely orange leaf pattern with accent blues, greens and white. The interior has a repeat of the pattern on one side. There is a signature stamp in Kanji at the lower base. Please see the additional photographs for more views and close-ups. BEIGE WITH PINK UNDERTONES. BOWL WITH RIBBONED WOODEN BOX. 3-1/4″ tall, 5-3/4″ wide. New and Pristine Condition. Japanese raku at it’s finest, this piece is gently formed from the footed base rising to a gracefully shaped bowl with a decorative indented horizontal line near the upper edge. The interior is quite unusual, this piece is remarkable well thrown with the indentation on the exterior as mentioned yet the interior of the bowl has those same indentations repeated all the way up the wall while the exterior remains smooth except for the one line. A beige glaze with pink undertones, the color is beautifully understated. There is a signature stamp on the bowl and an accompanying sheet of explanation written in Japanese. NAMPEYO Sikyatki Revival Hopi Pottery Bowl. The interior of this bowl is a variation of the bird hanging from sky band design of Sikyatki origin that Nampeyo often used from the early the 1890s until her blindness left her unable to paint in the 1920s. The broken “Spirit Band” would imply it is an earlier version. Nampeyo, Bold & Timeless. Is now available from us. This Stunning Bowl measures. High by slightly shy of 5 inches. Note the Highly Desired Red Splotchy Paint! Both the precision painting & very specific asymmetrical design elements, as well the extraordinarily smooth stone polishing along with irregular red paint are consistent with other pottery bowls from the antiquities market generally accepted as attributed to Nampeyo of Hano. Welcome to The Estate Department. Check back often to see our latest finds! We present this recent find. Acquired from a Green Valley, Arizona estate. From the windswept Hopi mesas in northern Arizona, a classic old Hopi Indian bowl, measuring 9 inches in diameter at the rim by 2 inches deep. Painted in classic Sikyatki Revival style with abstracted feather and bird motifs and bear claws. The Sikyatki Revival style was developed by early Hopi potter Nampeyo in the 1890′s and has been carried on by her descendants and other potters to this day. There are no chips or cracks. The orange-red Hopi clay has fired a dark red, almost brown color. This bowl was made circa 1940′s to 1960′s. Addresses (48 states only).
