Vernida Polacca Nampeyo b. 1955 is a great-granddaughter of Nampeyo of Hano and a granddaughter of Fannie Nampeyo through her father, Harold Polacca. She is a sister of noted potters Clinton Polacca and Reva Ami. Vernida is known for her finely painted traditionally designed Hopi pottery. This bowl is painted with bee-weed and clay slips for additional color. The design is a classic eagle tail pattern that extends from the mouth to the shoulder. The bowl was traditionally fired which resulted in the color variations on the surface. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, Vernida Polacca Nampeyo. Measures 3 1/4″ high x 4 1/2″ diameter. In excellent original condition. No chips, cracks, or repairs. Please study the photos as they are part of the description.
