RARE Vintage Bennington Pottery Recipe Wall Plaque Dione Lucas Quenelles de Brochet w/Nantua Sauce Cobalt Blue Description Charming Vintage 13″x 14″ Bennington Wall Plaque Rich Cobalt Blue Hole at Top for hanging It is a heavy piece Recipe for the classic French dish QUENELLES de BROCHET with NANTUA Sauce Marked on back Bennington Potters Bennington Vermont 1822. The entire recipe is stamped into the soft clay before firing. It was subsequently glazed in cobalt blue. There are several of these to collect and are rather pricey. Note up top that is a short as made shrinkage crack from the first firing so see if you like it. Very neat piece all solid and excellent. Called “To the Queen’s Taste”. An English woman, she had several restaurants in NYC including the famed restaurant, the Gingerman. Later in her life (1960s or so), she retired to Vermont and I believe Bennington created this plate at that time to celebrate her. Don’t let this one get away! Very rare and popular design! Approximately 17.5 cm x 17.5cm and 4cm deep. Vintage item in EXCELLENT CONDITION. No chips, no cracks, no noticeable signs of wear, no unpleasant odours. Colour: white, brown, yellow, avocado green, petrol blue, ruby red, light pink and black. Finish: glossy and the brown parts are matt / unglazed. The base bears the Upsala Ekeby stamp, form number (4067) and MS initials and also has a string attached to hang on the wall (extremely rare in this series).
