Vernida Polacca Nampeyo b. 1955 is a great-granddaughter of Nampeyo of Hano and a granddaughter of Fannie Nampeyo through her father, Harold Polacca. She is a sister of noted potters Clinton Polacca and Reva Ami. Vernida is known for her finely painted traditionally designed Hopi pottery. This bowl is painted with bee-weed and clay slips for additional color. The design is a classic eagle tail pattern that extends from the mouth to the shoulder. The bowl was traditionally fired which resulted in the color variations on the surface. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, Vernida Polacca Nampeyo. Measures 3 1/4″ high x 4 1/2″ diameter. Native American Vintage Hopi Fannie Nampeyo Polychrome Large Pottery Bowl. This is a wonderful 1950′s? Polychrome vessel by Fannie Nampeyo, daughter of Nampeyo of Hano, the grand matriarch of Hopi pottery. This example has a rich patina and is fairly large, 4 1/2″ tall X 71/2″ wide at the top. The bowl has some minor disturbances in the design and a few very light scratches, consistant with its age. There are no chip or cracks. Singed Fannie Nampeyo on bottom. As found, including a coiled old baling twine/jute plant holder that was never used. The Condition is “Used”. An item like this will need to be securely packaged of course. The item “Native American Vintage Hopi Fannie Nampeyo Polychrome Large Pottery Bowl” is in sale since Wednesday, March 17, 2021. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Cultures & Ethnicities\Native American\ US\1935-Now\Pottery”. The seller is “thenewbe1″ and is located in Spring Mills, Pennsylvania. Has obvious age wear. No chips or cracks. See all pictures for details. Thank you for checking out our stuff. A few things we would like you to know about us and our stuff. Some times we are over and some times we are under, in the end it averages out. If its paid for prior to or early on those days, we will get it out. We do not put a lot in descriptions, we take pictures of what it is from various angles, if we see a flaw or problem, that information we WILL put in description. Some of our items come with COA and/or Box others don’t. We try to put that info in descriptions too, but simply put, if its not in the picture, its not part of the sale. Please if anything arrives broken, make a claim against the carrier first and let us know 2nd. We work too hard packing some of this stuff to let it be damaged on the way. We attempt to be totally honest with everything we sell right up front, we do not embellish or make claims as to how great it is, we give you simply a title, and pictures of the item and answer specific questions if you have them. An item from us cannot be “not as described” unless we goof up so bad that we put the wrong thing in the package totally, I blame old age if we ever do that. We have stopped offering make an offer sales, you are welcome to make a fair offer on any item, if we agree to it, we will send you an offer! Most of our stuff comes from User Collectors, meaning that they bought it to display, in cabinets etc. It is stuff they like and while much of it is new, or like new, some still in boxes because they did not have room to put it out, it was not bought to just store in vaults. Our goal is to get it new homes with folks that like it and want it, loving it is a goal and hope that whatever you get from us you do. We hope you find that special something for yourself or someone you care about! Vintage HOPI Pottery Polychrome OLLA BOWL Native American. In excellent condition with no chips or cracks, the bowl measures 7 3/4″ diameter x 3″ tall. I acquired this at the estate sale of an older couple who did extensive travel both here in North America as well as abroad. The bowl is unsigned so, I can’t attribute it to any particular artist although the particular symbols/designs look very much like those of Rena Kavena (1898 – 1993). Since the bowl is not signed, this isn’t even an attribution…. Only stated as a similarity and, you can do your own research. I know what it is and the style but, beyond that, I have no expertise in Native American pottery so, please, look at the pics as they are an important part of the description. It’s actually a very nice bowl and sits quite level for an olla. This is probably from the mid 1960s to the early 1970s when the couple were actively traveling. I will seriously consider any and all offers so, don’t be afraid to ask….. You won’t insult me and I’m very easy to work with. Don’t miss out! From a Smoke Free Home! Most of the items that I sell here are vintage, antique, and/or used and may sometimes have signs of wear or age. I always do my best to get it to you pronto! Proudly presented today is this lovely Hopi Sikyatki Style shallow bowl. Measuring 5 and a half inches in diameter and 2 inches tall, it was created around 1900, and depicts a stylized eagle and a bear claw. It also displays a spirit line, the spiritual gap in the framing line that allows the potter’s spirit to escape from the jar when it is complete. It dates from the early stages of the Hopi pottery revival, and was made by a contemporary of Nampeyo. It is of course far to old for a signature, although it was obviously someone well-versed in the Sikyatki Revival Style. The piece shows almost no wear, and has a beautiful patina of age. It is an honor to present such a fine piece to you. This piece would grace any Southwest Pottery collection on earth. As always, Best Regards, Rich. VINTAGE Classic HOPI Hand Coiled Pottery Bowl. Condition is very good. Size is: 3″h x 5 1/8″w. Polychrome decoration with traditional geometric and animal figural Hopi designs. No cracks, chips or repairs. Pueblo pottery is made using a coiled technique that came into northern Arizona and New Mexico from the south, some 1500 years ago. In the four-corners region of the US, nineteen pueblos and villages have historically produced pottery. Although each of these pueblos use similar traditional methods of coiling, shaping, finishing and firing, the pottery from each is distinctive. Various clays gathered from each pueblos local sources produce pottery colors that range from buff to earthy yellows, oranges, and reds, as well as black. Fired pots are sometimes left plain and other times decoratedmost frequently with paint and occasionally with appliqué. Painted designs vary from pueblo to pueblo, yet share an ancient iconography based on abstract representations of clouds, rain, feathers, birds, plants, animals and other natural world features.
