Fabulous old and huge Dorchester Stoneware Punch Bowl on pedestal rim. Thick study American made stoneware. PATTERN: Fiddlehead or Scroll painted in a large band around the edge inside and outside. This piece of Dorchester Pottery is from my Boston house. I collected for years. Founded in 1895 by George Henderson. COLOR: The blue is divine (cobalt powder from Germany) and the hand decoration sublime. Each unique piece is handmade, hand decorated and hand glazed. When you look you will find the fingerprints of the maker holding the piece while dipping it in the glaze. Usually 2 -3 fingerprints on one side and 1-2 on the other. SIZE: 12 1/4″ diameter x 5 1/2″ tall. CONDITION: Good without cracks. Some wearing of the paint glaze in the bottom due to age (see photo) There is the typical glaze runs always seen in Dorchester.
