VINTAGE LOUIS MIDEKE 12 CHECKERBOARD CENTERPIECE BOWL. This beautiful large centerpiece bowl has a. Brown and beige checkerboard pattern with a beige circle on the interior base. The base of the bowl is incised Mideke. The only other pottery piece I have found with this checkerboard pattern is in the Whatcom Museum, however it is a much smaller piece in size. Took inspiration not only from the shape of everyday objects but also from the colors, subtle textures and minimalism found in Asian ceramic traditions. He identified as a potter but created works that in their art and elegance placed his work in galleries, museums and private art collections. 1982 to the best of my knowledge. 12″ across rim and 5 ½” from tabletop to rim edge.
