Being offered is a vintage Zia Indian art pottery bowl. The bowl has the classic polychrome slip colors with the Zia roadrunner bird with other geometric form designs. The bowl is signed on the bottom, R. Salas along with a tiny signature above it which is difficult to read. Information I found about this potters signature indicated this was made by Rita Salas. The bowl does show typical age related wearing in places. There are a few tiny areas where the slip is wearing to the surface, there are some surface scuffs and abrasions, but the bowl is intact with no chips, cracks, or hairlines. The bowl is approx. 4 1/4″ wide by 3 3/4″ tall. According to Google AI, “The signature “R. SALAS stands for Rita (Salas) Shije Kayeiti c. Her historic pieces-such as low bowls and jars featuring distinct red polychrome bird or geometric motifs-are documented in historical collections. In addition, I sell items for Native Americans and from personal collections. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about my items. Please let me know ahead of time. I will try my best to get the item out sooner. Thanks for your business.
