This Vintage Hopi Redware Piki Bowl would have been used in the making of corn meal bread, known as piki. No decorations, this plainware style would have been made for a Hopi kitchen, not tourists. This was in use at some point & wear is commensurate. It is structurally sound & there are no cracks or chips but there is some paint loss & discoloration. About 2-1/2″ tall & 6″ wide. Signed underneath, circa 1950′s. This Old Hopi Pueblo Pottery Bowl is one of a kind & look as you may, her work is extremely hard to find! Lucy has a bowl in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institutes’ National Museum of the American Indian. There is no additional information available on her.
