From local & hand built clay, this polychrome olla was yucca brush painted with black & red on cream. The bold banded design wraps its way around in balanced patterns. It measures 5-1/4″ tall & almost 8″ wide. Signed under the base, VPino Laguna. Excellent paint with one small chip in the rim. A cultural heritage is embodied in this Acoma Laguna Pottery and it’s one-of-kind! Traditional Acoma pottery is made using a slate-like clay found within the hills surrounding the Pueblo. When fired using traditional methods, this clay allows the potters to form very thin walls, a common and sought after characteristic of Acoma pottery.
