Hopi Pottery, Vintage, Large Traditional Polychrome Sikyatki Revival Design Bowl, Signed Violet Huma. This is a vintage thick wall piece. Is cited in Gregory Schaaf’s 500 artist bio. She was the mother of Anita Polacca. She is a renowned master potter. Her pieces are highly sought after and held in the finest of collections. This piece has nice warm fire clouding. Her pieces are fairly rare, this bowl is an excellent example of her finer work. Very good condition considering the age, as I estimate somewhere around 50 years old. Some minor scuffing as expected for a piece of this age. Please view ALL photos for complete description and condition, nothing is hidden, all sides shown. Salt shaker shown for proportion. The display stand shown is included. Measures approximately 3 1/2 inches at high laying flat, by 9 1/2 inches at it’s widest point. The starting price is what I paid for it in 2015, but I will consider offers. Truly exceptional Sikyatki Revival Piece for the discerning collector. NAMPEYO Sikyatki Revival Hopi Pottery Bowl. The interior of this bowl is a variation of the bird hanging from sky band design of Sikyatki origin that Nampeyo often used from the early the 1890s until her blindness left her unable to paint in the 1920s. The broken “Spirit Band” would imply it is an earlier version. Nampeyo, Bold & Timeless. Is now available from us. This Stunning Bowl measures. High by slightly shy of 5 inches. Note the Highly Desired Red Splotchy Paint! Both the precision painting & very specific asymmetrical design elements, as well the extraordinarily smooth stone polishing along with irregular red paint are consistent with other pottery bowls from the antiquities market generally accepted as attributed to Nampeyo of Hano. Priced accordingly – then discounted with our Sale Price. That is how I learned to paint. But now I just close my eyes and see designs and I paint them.
