Museum Qty Marked Ajiki Hiro Mingei Pottery Chawan Tea Bowl Shoji Hamada. MINT – Museum quality Marked Hiro. Ajiki Hiro Chawan tea bowl with Carbon Trap Shino Glaze. New – Mint Condition. A beautiful Marked Ajiki Hiro Shino with carbon trap glazed Chawan tea bowl. The bowl measures 4 3/4 x 4 inches wide x 2 3/4 inches high. This is an opportunity to own a wonderful authentic piece of Ajiki Hiro’s work. 1987 Grand Prize at the Modern Tea Forms Exhibition (Chanoyu zokei ten) at the Tanabe Museum of Art located in Matsue, Shimane Prefecture. The annual exhibition, established in 1984, celebrated the fifth anniversary of the museum. The competition is juried by many of Japan’s top critics, most prominently by Hayashiya Seizo. Hundreds of works are submitted each year for the six-member jury (again won in 2000 and 2003). This prize-winning teabowl was later acquired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art. 1996 Received the Sen Sôshitsu Prize at the 4th Tankô Biennial for Tea Ceramics 1998 Encouragement Award at the 5th Tankô Biennial for Tea Ceramics 2002 Invited to exhibit in the special inaugural exhibition “One Hundred Years of Contemporary Ceramics in Japan” at the Gifu Contemporary Ceramic Art Museum Solo exhibition at the Keio Art Salon, Shinjuku, Tokyo 2003 Solo exhibition at Gallery Ichirin, Nakano, Tokyo 2005 Solo exhibition at Gallery Takasegawa, Izumo, Shimane Prefecture Hosted the tea ceremony at his solo exhibition, India. Museum-like quality Hopi Pottery bowl by the late Garnet Pavatea. This is a stunning and probably quite rare piece given its condition and age. It has been proudly and safely displayed in a home for the past 40 years. This bowl is oval shaped and measures approximately 10 1/2 inches long by 7 1/4 inches wide and is about 3 1/4 inches deep. It weights 2 lbs and ¾ ounces. Please note, I have two other pieces by Garnet Pavatea in similar museum-like condition also for sale.
