Here we have an absolutely stunning white-bodied sugar bowl with its lid. In the bowl and lid glaze you can see deep red, brown, blue and white glaze applied to the outside allowing it to flow creating this beautiful marbled agate decoration. The sugar has an attractive recessed foot and applied handles. The domed lid has an easy to hold button knob handle. On the widest part of the outside of the bowl there are small spots where this sugar rubbed against another sugar resulting in glaze loss before this was fired in the kiln. This was covered with clear glaze in the final firing. Measuring 6″ across the rim by 5 ¾” in height to the top of the handle on the lid, this is in. Original mint condition with no post production damage or repairs. Both the lid and bowl and rings like a bell when you tap them. The underside of the recessed foot is stamped “SARREGUEMINES”. This was a French pottery founded in 1790, they were to France what Wedgwood was to England. This is an extremely rare mocha decorated signed sugar and any advanced collector would be pleased to add to their collection.
