HUGE Vintage Australian Melrose Pottery 36cm Possum Bowl 1930s Art Deco. A magnificent- truly beautiful piece of vintage Australian pottery, a massive trough like bowl with embossed possums each side. Art Deco era slumped ornamental handles each end. Classic Melrose and sure to form the jewel in the crown of any Collection of Melrose, dwarfing most other pieces in the Melrose line of pottery- a massive piece at 36cm total length and 23.5cm width. Height is approx 10.5cm. Weight is 2.4 kilos approx! The standard distinctive crazing to outer green glaze as is standard for Melrose, however I must also report a chip to the inner edge rim and nearby a genuine hairline crack also. Elsewhere a little pock hole where an impurity has likely burst during firing, not really damage. In fact the chip is an easy repair whereby the crack nearby wouldnt really be noticed either amongst all the crazing. Take a look and see for yourself- a magnificent, classic and charming piece.
