Anita was a prominent Hopi-Tewa potter from the First Mesa village of Sichomovi. She was active from the early 1940s. She learned from her mother, well known potter, Violet Huma. This bowl measures 3 1/4″ high by 6 1/4″ across. It is signed on the bottom and is in great all original vintage condition. Anita was known for her yellow-ware pottery such as this pot painted with Sikyatki Revival motifs. She hand-coiled her pots using native clay and natural pigments which produced a variegated yellow color in the traditional outdoor firing. We guarantee all of our Native American Indian items to be AUTHENTIC American Indian traditional arts. Go down to the category: Pottery.
