A large, footed studio pottery bowl made by the noted ceramist William Wyman (1922 – 1980) in 1965. This beautiful bowl is 10 inches in diameter and 5 inches tall, resting on a 5 1/2 inch diameter foot. Superbly thrown and proportioned. William Wyman attended the Massachusetts College of Art Boston, received his MA from Columbia and did additional post graduate work at Alfred. He began his professional work as a potter and teacher in 1953. Wyman’s work is in many museums including the Smithsonian, Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Boston Museum of Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Everson Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, England. He exhibited in the Ceramic Nationals from 1952 through 1960, 1962,1964 and 1966. Signed Wyman’65 on the base. Weighs 3 pounds 14 ounces.
