Vintage’40s San Ildefonso Blackware Pottery Bowl with Wings Rosalie Aguilar (d). Rosalie married into the San Ildefonso pueblo tribe in 1922 at the age of 24. This gorgeous vintage bowl was created, carved and polished by Rosalie. The bowl has a bird and bird wing pattern on each side of the piece. It has the cameo style of carving which was typical at San Ildefonso in the 1930s. It is an unusual design and surprisingly complex. The sharp edge designs are always technically more difficult to create than the rounded ones. The bowl is in good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair. There are some very light surface scratches. Measures approx 4″ tall x 6″ wide. It is signed, Rosalie on the bottom in the clay. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. A fantastic and historic signed Blackware carved pottery bowl by famous San Ildefonso Indian Rosalie Aguilar to add to your collection!
