Rare Antique Chinese Pottery Ming Dynasty Glaze Blue & White Bowl Great looking hand painted character graphics and decorations throughout this rare Chinese, swatow bowl. A Antique blue and white bowl, late  Ming dynasty , 16th to 17th century. This sizeable porcelain bowl was made during the Wanli Reign (1573 – 1620) of the Ming Dynasty and is of the type generally referred to as Porcelain “Swatow” ware. A transitional blue and white bowl of provincial manufacture dating to the reign of the Emperor Wanli. There is a character or’mark’ in the center of the interior. This is an unusual feature and is most likely the name of the bowl’s original owner with whom the bowl would have been buried. This practice was more common among lower, working-class Chinese citizens who were buried with their personal possessions for use in the afterlife. The bowl is nicely painted.
