Vintage San Jose Pottery Bowl. Artes Folklorico presents a colossal vintage glazed ceramic pottery bowl by the celebrated San Jose Art Pottery conglomeration. San Jose is used to include several makers of similar-looking art pottery and tiles made in San Antonio, Texas. In 1941 the workshop changed its name to Mission Crafts when it moved to within the walls of Mission San Jose. Many of the workshops themes depicted slices of early Mexican life. This museum quality bowl features a gondola oarsman steering his boat down the canals of the beautiful Floating Gardens of Xochimilco in Mexico City. There are numerous colored glazes against a cinnamon background. The bowl is of exceptional size measuring 16-inches in diameter and 2-1/2 inches in depth. The piece is in excellent vintage condition with no breaks, cracks or chips (see photographs). A great find for anyone that collects vintage, old or antique ceramics, bowls, tiles or the amazing work from the San Jose Art Pottery studios.
