Vintage ACOMA PUEBLO BOWL Pottery Signed by LUCY M. Lewis was from the Acoma Pueblo and was the last of the Acoma matriarchs. She was largely responsible for the revival of black and white designs on traditional handcoiled Acoma pottery. Many of these designs are more then 1000 years old. When creating her pottery, Lucy M. Lewis followed pueblo traditions in every step of her pottery making, from prayers during each step, handcoiling and outdoor firing of her pottery. Materials: Traditional , Hand coiled clay and traditional firing. Acoma clay has naturally high aluminum content so pottery can be made thinner walled yet still strong compared to the clay used for pottery of most AZ/NM region pueblos. This beautiful vase measures approx. 1-3/4″ H X 2-5/8″ DIAMETER. T is in really good condition with no cracks or repairs. There are a couple of very small chips as shown in pics.
