Delightful Vintage Polia Pillin Footed Bowl, Abstract Horses, c. This appealing ceramic footed bowl was made by Polia Pillin. It’s in a circular bowl form, with a smooth flat rim, and stands on three feet extending from the bottom. The decoration is on a mottled teal polychromed ground, and features renderings of three abstract horses outlined in black slip, and polychromed in pinks, yellows, whites and ochres, with red highlights. This also has a finished bottom in applied, polychromed teal. Displays well on a cabinet or furniture surface, or also standing up in a plate holder. It’s also a useful, attractive functional bowl. Dimensions: 7″ in diameter x 2-1/4″ high; the three feet are in a circle approximately 3 in diameter. This is in excellent condition, with typical overall light crazing to the overglaze and some wear to the feet due to its age. Signed in black slip on the bottom underglaze. Note: The white hotspots and reflections in the overglaze are from the lights. Pillin pottery is difficult to photograph, for me at least.
