Many thanks for viewing. Robin Welch (1936 – 2019). A handsome, raku fired dish or shallow bowl. The flared rim, elevated on a raw / unglazed and deeply recessed foot. The interior with a pale glaze with partial’crackle’ detailing. The underside with a broad, toffee coloured band. All of the colours, including the black of the unglazed foot, combine to great effect. Unmarked and with no potter’s stamp, but I have been assured by the previous owner that it was acquired directly from Robin Welch. This lovely pot was originally acquired as part of a substantial and high-end collection of studio pottery which had been accumulated between the 1960′s and late 1980′s. It was in extremely good company, with other pieces present by Lucie Rie, John Maltby, Joanna Constantinidis, Marianne de Trey, Walter Keeler, Seth Cardew, Michael Casson and Emmanuel Cooper. Approx 8.5 cms tall. Approx 20.5 cms diameter. Note, the rim edge has a rough and pitted quality, however on close inspection I can confirm it is completely free from damage.
